Tenor en
sopraan saxofonist en componist Marcelo Moncada is geboren in 1978 in
Pitrufquen, Chili.
Op
jonge leeftijd startte hij zijn carrière door mee te spelen in de plaatselijke
'Banda Municipal'.
Kreeg
les van Chileense muzikanten als Marco Aldana, Christian Crisosto en Roberto
Lecaros.
Hij
speelde in verschillende formaties zoals, 'Cuarteto Baguibasax' en 'Ballet
Folclorico Bafca'.
In 2002, emigreerde hij naar België om zijn muzikale carrière verder te zetten.
Hij
studeerde "Jazz en Populaire Muziek " aan het conservatorium van Antwerpen en
Gent. Hij studeerde met Bart Defoort, Ben Sluijs en Dieter Limbourg.
Hij
volgde masterclas bij David Liedman, Gerry Peacock, Mark Turner, Francois Louis,
Michael Brecker, Jerry Bergonzi,.
Reeds
verschillende jaren in verschillende groepen, zoals Marcelo y los gringos,
Proyeccion Latina, Latin Jazz Quintet Cascada, el Sindicato Sonico en vele
andere.
Hij speelde op bekende festivals als Jazz Montreux (Switzerland), 0110 concerts,
Mano Mundo, Polé Polé, Sfinks festival,. Op Jazz Montreux won hij de eerste
prijs in de categorie 'world music' met de groep Proyeccion Latina in 2003.
In mei 2007 namen hij het eerste album "Tikitan" op, in Champ d'action, studio
3, Antwerpen, België.
2008 wordt
een succes jaar voor Marcelo Moncada.
Stilaan
veroverd hij de belgische en chileense jazz scene met een jazz tour door chili
en een nieuwe CD productie opgenomen in de "Blauwe Zaal" en als gast muzikant,
top trompetist Bert Joris.

Marcelo Moncada was born in 1978 in
Pitrufquen, Chile.
He started his musical career at a young age
by joining the brass band ‘Banda Municipal’.
He took lessons with the Chilean musicians
Marco Aldana, Christian Crisosto en Roberto Lecaros.
In Chile, he played in different formations such
as ‘Cuarteto Baguibasax’ and ‘Ballet Folclorico Bafca’.
In 2002, he immigrated to Belgium to continue
his musical career.
He studied ‘Jazz and Popular Music’ at the Royal
Conservatories of Antwerp and Gent.
He studied with Bart Defoort, Ben Sluijs
and Dieter Limbourg.
He participated in workshops of David Liedman,
Gerry Peacock, Mark Turner, Francois Louis,
Michael Brecker, Jerry Bergonzi,...
For several years he has worked with several groups:
Marcelo y los gringos, Proyeccion Latina,
Latin Jazz Quintet Cascada,
Sindicato Sonico and many others.
He has played on well-known festivals such as

Trio Cachai recorded their first EP in the same year.
In may 2007 they recorded the album "Tikitan"
at champ d’action, studio 3, Antwerp, Belgium,
a Latinmusic Records production.
In Thelonious Jazz Club in Chile he recorded a
second CD (live) in de beginning of februari 2008.
